Reason #5 why people jog in jeans: awesomeness

Our fifth and final reason why people jog in jeans: they are the most awesome humans alive. Click picture for more details about their awesomeness.

(BTW, Fan Club Members, our page has been updated with a picture from marathon #6. I was worried about Dan’s silence for awhile. I thought we scared him away with all our love.)

Tough shit if you are sick of Sean Hutchinson. As long as he continues to run races IN JEANS, his pictures will fill this blog. The latest pictures come from the Deloitte Pretoria Marathon in South Africa this past weekend. After four posts, he just won himself his own category on JoggingJeans.com.

And for the person whose running clothing caused Sean to stop and take a photo:

Yep, those are camos and boots!

No need to stage an intervention YET.

I still stand firm in my stance that I am not obsessed with Sean Hutchinson. Two posts (JoggingJeans ♥ Sean Hutchinson and He did WHAT in jeans?) and sneaking into his apartment ONE TIME to take pictures of his jean-running gear doesn’t make me obsessed or a stalker. Come see me when I’m writing my 100th post about him or sneaking into his apartment on a regular basis. Only then can you all stage an intervention for me. Make sure someone brings cupcakes.

So post #3 has pictures of Sean sporting jeans again for the Kloof Nek Classic in Cape Town, South Africa last weekend.

He did WHAT in jeans?

I swear that I am not obsessed with Sean Hutchinson. No, really, I’m not.

I just love him.

And when you have a blog dedicated to people jogging and doing other forms of exercise in jeans and you meet someone like Sean, who wore jeans when he ran a marathon and plans to wear jeans during an upcoming ultramarathon, a bond (albeit one-way) is created.

I spent a few minutes stalking him looking at his Facebook photos and decided that my new love is either 1) very fun,  2) a nutcase, or 3) a little of both.

Yes, your eyes are working correctly – that is him enjoying WATERSPORTS IN JEANS!

But, seriously, how can you NOT be obsessed with love him?

JoggingJeans ♥ Sean Hutchinson

Last week I found a new best friend. I also found a new love: badass Sean Hutchinson. He ran the 2011 Knysna Marathon in jeans and is planning to run NYC’s Christmas Marathon and the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon in jeans. He was kind enough to take the time to answer a few questions:

1. What on earth would prompt you to run a marathon in jeans?

A friend and I discussed doing a race at the beginning of the year in jeans and never actually got around to it. Then in June we both decided last minute to do the Knysna Full Marathon. Not being at our peak fitness, as we were returning from injuries, we decided to have a bit of fun of it so that we wouldn’t push too hard. The logical option was to run in jeans.

2. What was running in jeans like? How chaffed were your thighs afterward?

I didn’t have any issues at all. I did carry a tub of Vaseline in my back pocket just in case, but it was not needed.

3. Did people ask about your jeans during the marathon?

Yes, plenty did. With the same two questions: how is the chafe and why are you doing it?

4. Was the Knysna marathon the first race you ran in jeans?

Yes, but have done plenty of other sporting activities in jeans. Water skiing and mountain biking are among them. I have also raced some adventure races in a purple velvet suit. [*]

5. What brand of jeans? Do you plan to wear the same pair for the ultra?

I wore Quicksilver jeans. I do plan to use them again for the Two Oceans and hopefully in some races in the USA next year. [Sean, the Pittsburgh Marathon is May 6, 2012. Come to Pittsburgh! The girl stalking you all over the city = not me. ;)]

6. Any other comments about running in jeans?

Poly shorts are so last season.

*And about that suit — isn’t it GREAT that Sean, the guy in the purple velvet suit, is NOT the weirdest dressed dude in this pic! Hah! I ♥ Sean Hutchinson.
